EDUCATION

It is no longer news that the education system in Nigeria is a misrepresentation of what education should be in an ideal society. Finding by the United Nations International Children’s Fund (“UNICEF”) reveals that about 10.5 million of the country’s children between the ages of 5 and 14 years are out of school and those that attend schools are deprived of qualitative and effective education.

Ogun State was one of the few parts of Nigeria to have embraced formal or western education as far back as 1846 with the coming to Abeokuta by the Church Missionary Society (“CMS”) which led to the establishment of a Teacher Training Institute in 1849, Abeokuta Grammar School in 1908 and Ijebu Ode Grammar School in 1913. Fast forward to the present day, we are left to wonder the amount of progress we have made as the indexes on out of school children and lack of access to quality education are saddening.

The visioner, Dr. Demola Okeowo Ph.D. went through the same system from elementary school at Ogbe Methodist Primary School at Igbore, Abeokuta, secondary education at Ijemo Titun High School in Ibara, Housing Estate, Abeokuta before proceeding to study law in 1999 at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun state. During his schooling days things seem to be better than what is obtainable now (Ironically). As an International scholar personified, Dr. Demola Okeowo Ph.D. has experienced the two worlds and believes that efficient and quality education should be a right for all and not a privilege for the rich. As an academic, Dr. Demola Okeowo Ph.D. places quality education at the prime of the needs that the foundation will meet.
